Buy a home in Argentina
Foreigners can buy a home in Argentina on the same terms as locals, with no residency required. Grupo Briones builds new apartment buildings in Buenos Aires (Núñez, Saavedra, Belgrano and Recoleta) and sells them directly, in US dollars, with payment plans during construction.
Can a foreigner buy property in Argentina?
Yes. Argentina allows foreigners to buy urban property (apartments, houses, offices) without being residents and on the same terms as Argentine citizens. The only restrictions apply to rural land and border areas, which do not affect homes in Buenos Aires.
What you need: a valid passport, an Argentine tax ID (CUIT or CDI, issued by ARCA) and a notary (escribano), who handles the deed and registers the property in your name.

Frequently asked questions
Can foreigners buy property in Argentina?
Yes. Foreigners can buy urban property in Argentina, such as apartments and houses in Buenos Aires, on the same terms as locals and without being a resident. Restrictions apply only to rural land and border areas.
Do I need to be in Argentina to buy?
No. You can sign through a local representative with a power of attorney. If it is signed abroad, it must be apostilled (and translated into Spanish if it is not in Spanish).
What documents do I need to buy a home in Argentina?
Your valid passport and an Argentine tax ID (CUIT or CDI) issued by ARCA, the national tax agency. The notary (escribano) checks the documentation before the deed is signed.
What currency are homes sold in?
Homes in Argentina are priced and paid in US dollars. Grupo Briones lists its prices in USD.
Can I get a mortgage in Argentina as a foreigner?
It is difficult: Argentine banks usually require local residency and income. Most foreign buyers pay in cash. Buying off-plan lets you pay in installments during construction instead.
What does the notary (escribano) do?
In Argentina the escribano is a public notary who checks that the property and the seller are clear of debts and claims, drafts the deed (escritura) and registers the transfer in the Property Registry. Closing costs and taxes depend on each purchase: the escribano gives you the exact figure before you sign.
